Are We Infringing Your Patent

We are thinking of building our own kind of test enabled web browser and we see you have a patent on this product. What does that mean?

That's correct -- there is a Patent on the technology that underlies the eValid browser that covers how it is built and how it operates.

The saying goes, "imitation is the kindest form of flattery and the sincerest indication of respect," and naturally enough it is pleasing to know you are trying to build your own version.

However, in all honesty, we believe you will find actually building eValid rather harder that you would imagine. This happens a lot with products that are very simple in concept. "Why don't you just put the testing engine inside the browser?" is what someone asked our team years ago. Occam's Razor: What is the simplest stated is often the best! We wish that the reality were aligned with the fantasy ... but it actually is not. Building a eValid was a LOT more complex that you can imagine! It'll probably be easier and a lot less expensive to obtain a license to use the eValid product that to duplicate it.

As to what the existence of the eValid patent means to you, that is, if your project infringes on our patent and thereby causes you unhappy consequences, we have to recommend that you consult your own legal people for good answers on this kind of question. As you can imagine we can't give you advice on that point.
