Discussion of the technology underlying the eValid solution.

Future of automated software testing

Hello.

Looking toward the future:

What do you see as the biggest issue facing automated software testing?

In the coming decade?

Thanks

A good question, and fairly frequently asked HubKerns.

From a technology perspective -- and that is the only perspective that we believe we can answer with any kind of competence -- the biggest issue in the test community is applying what is actually known.

As far as we can tell any web application can be thoroughly tested with one or more eValid tests.

We have very strong test suite internally that we maintain to assure the quality of each new build.

In addition, our test suite is very robust when it comes to detecting errors.

That may be due to the fact that we know eValid well and we know what to look for and how to arrange tests that reveal problems.

But what we see is, well, not to be disparaging, that too many people have the technology available and just don't carry it through.

We see a lot of teams that do a few tests and they think they're done.

Kind of like "proof of quality by non-contradiction of a small and weak set of tests."

Which is not what is needed.

So, we recommend making the test suite as strong as possible, tied very closely to product feature, and run regularly.
