Yes, you can validate a number of parts of any URL you've landed on.

The entire URL, assuming you know what it supposed to be.
The HTTP protocol, that part of the URL up to the ":" in the string.
The web server by the hostname and port of the current document.
Some selected subset of the URL...the first N characters for example
