(1) Monitoring
A monitoring test is usually a single eValid playback with the test engine settings adjusted to collect overall timing and performance data.
In monitoring you typically run the evalid test from the command line interface; the data is stored locally, and your monitoring reporting system (of these there are many) picks up the data.

A regression test, usually as part of a suite of such tests, is aimed to confirm a particular item of content, or to confirm a minimum response time.
Once a set of test -- a suite of tests, in fact -- is readied, you usually run it in the eV.Manager system, described here:
