Why not just run multiple machine images.

It is a matter of scale.

If a single user on one machine can run 100 BUs, and if 10 users on that same machine can run 1,000 BUs, then you have the advantage of simplicity and scaling.

The idea of using one machine image per BU is attractive, but it doesn't really scale.

There's no magic in replication of machine images (instances) to generate load; only a vast increase in resources use and a corresponding increase in management.

But eValid's approach gives you a 100X or 1,000X scaling advantage with much simpler control.

Scaling in eValid LoadTest mode is an easy issue to understand. You may find this paper of interest:
