eValid has a great approach to functional testing, but tell me, what happens to eValid when you pause a test?
Is the eValid browser still active?
Thanks much!
You're welcome GloriaH and thanks for asking.
In playback mode, you can pause and restart the playback using the pause and play buttons on the eValid browser face and on the dashboard. Here are details about the dashboard:
http://www.e-valid.com/Products/Documen ... board.htmlIf you pause eValid during playback, it remains an active browser; when you un-pause (that is, restart) playback, the next command is executed, regardless of where the browser is now pointing.
This can cause tests to fail, because it is possible to navigate to various pages when paused in a way that interfers with reliable playback. Caution is advised.
Also, the EventLog continues to record the actions taken by the browser. If if the inputs are NOT the result of a recorded script playback, the EventLog records what the browser sees, attributing all of the actions the the most-recent command.
This can be pretty interesting to study, particularly if you have Detailed Timings turned on. Here is the manual page for ALL of the various logs:
http://www.e-valid.com/Products/Documen ... /view.htmlOur advice: Keep ONLY the EventLog open during your experimentation with the browser when in paused-playback state. We promise it will be interesting.
