What is the simplest way to run a server loading test?

Use and application of the eValid server loading (LoadTest) capability. And in the cloud computing context for monitoring and loading.

One of the neat things about eValid is that you can run a simple server loading test in a very simple sequence:

(1) Record a test into a script. Play it back to make sure it runs the way you want.

(2) Open the LoadTest Scenario Editor, type in the name of your script and then use the replicate icon (like a + symbol) to run the scenario N times (up to about 100). Be sure to indicate a repetition count like 10 for each playback.

(3) Press Play on the eValid browser and watch N instances of eValid launch and run 10 times each and then shut down. The LoadTest Monitor will show you the details of each execution in real time.

Variations in the above include making the tests AJAX safe, mixing the scenario with a variety of tests. extracting internal timing data from each playback (to drop into a spreadsheet), and so forth.
