Thanks for posting your question LBerger.
If you have a dedicated machine, then all commands are OK.
However, if you want to run multiple monitoring scripts in parallel from one machine -- this is the usual case -- then you need to NOT include commands that involve use of the desktop.
The reason is, they are likely to interfere with each other.
