Does eValid have any way of verifying that links shown on a web page are active and clickable?
Thanks
A great question, thanks JDaniels.
The easy answer on this one is (please, no offence) to go ahead and click on the link and see what happens.`
If your test results in a navigation -- something you can see from the EventLog file -- then you know it is clickable: you just clicked.
But this answer may be too easy.
If you want to know, in advance, if an element will accept a "click" even then you probably need to dig around in the DOM of the page.
Here is a summary of eValid resources you can use:
http://e-valid.com/Products/Documentati ... urces.htmlIt is easy to send a "click" event to a particular DOM element, but in some cases (but not all) you can tell if an element will accept a click event by looking to find if that element is an anchor-tag header that includes a URL in the node as the value of some property there.
Sorry, but there are so many ways that a DOM element can accept a click and do something (like navigate to a link) that a general statement isn't possible.
Good luck and let us know if you have further trouble.
