You may have noted that one combination of the settings on eValid won't necessarily record every part of a website correctly. Sometimes you need "element mouseovers" ON and sometimes you need them OFF. And sometimes you have to use Application Mode (because you're actually working with a desktop solution), and sometimes you can stay in "natural mode," where recording is done entirely from the DOM.
We have this phrase, "custom recording protocol," that we use to describe the specific combinations of settings that apply to a specific website. The variations between websites in terms of what is required to record a test of the the first time out of the bos is quite large. But for a website or web application from one source, these are very much the same for all pages on that site. The rules that work for "this" site get written on the back of an envelope, and they become the "custom recording protocol" that applies to that particular site.
We'll try to work out a table of some kind that summarizes the details, but please appreciate how difficult that is to do with 100% accuracy. When in doubt, try it out and adapt accordingly.
